Here’s my sixth entry for Laura’s Weekly Song Challenge. Here’s a link to Laura’s blog

This week Laura has given us these three topics to find songs for. We have to post a video of a song by a band with a number in their name, post a video of a song that has a number in lyrics and/or title, and sandwiched in between is a song that is a one hit wonder.

Copy rules and add to your own post, pinging back to this post.
Post music videos for your answers to the musical questions.

1. Post a video of a song by a band with a number in their name.

“She Will Be Loved” by Maroon 5

“She Will Be Loved” is a song by the American pop rock band Maroon 5. It was written by frontman Adam Levine and lead guitarist James Valentine. The song was released on June 8, 2004, as the third single from Maroon 5’s 2002 debut studio album, Songs About Jane. In Australia, it reached No. 1, a position it held for five non-consecutive weeks. The single is noted for its music video starring Kelly Preston in a mother-daughter love triangle with lead singer Adam Levine. The song hit No. 1 on the Mainstream Top 40 and Adult Top 40 charts, Maroon 5’s newer hits were played only on pop and adult contemporary stations. As of June 2014, the song has sold more than 3 million copies in the United States. In 2005, the song was nominated at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals category. “She Will Be Loved” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at #50 as the Hot Shot debut of the week on July 24, 2004. The song rose to No. 20 on August 21, 2004, giving Maroon 5 its third consecutive Top 20 hit on the chart. “She Will Be Loved” continued to gain in performance and rose to #9 on September 11, 2004, becoming Maroon 5’s second top-ten hit from Songs About Jane after the band’s previous hit “This Love”. The song reached its peak position at No. 5 on September 25, 2004, matching the peak position of “This Love” from earlier that year.  It fell to No. 6 a week later and stayed in that position for three weeks, before rising back up to #5 on October 23, 2004 for two more consecutive weeks. “She Will Be Loved” was certified platinum on April 18, 2011 by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

2. Post a song by a one-hit wonder.

“Jai Ho” from Slumdog Millionaire

“Jai Ho” is a song composed by A. R. Rahman for the 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire. When Danny Boyle, the director of Slumdog Millionaire, approached Rahman to compose its soundtrack, he included the song. “Jai Ho” accompanies a choreographed dance sequence at the end credits of the film. The song features vocals from Sukhvinder Singh, Mahalaxmi Iyer and Vijay Prakash in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. Indian singer Tanvi Shah wrote and provided vocals for an English section of the song. “Jai Ho” is a Hindi phrase which can be roughly translated as “Let [the] victory prevail”, “Let there be victory”, or “May there always be victory”. American girl group The Pussycat Dolls recorded an English interpretation of “Jai Ho”. Entitled “Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)”, and credited to “A. R. Rahman and the Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger”, the song appeared on the re-release of the group’s second studio album Doll Domination (2008).There aren’t many one-hit wonders that have won both a Grammy Award and an Oscar. In fact, “Jai Ho” is pretty much it. In 2008, Slumdog Millionaire was packing movie theaters with its crazy compelling story of a poor, illiterate kid who wins the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire . As the movie ends in an exciting rush of requited love and joy, you see the cast in a train station dancing and singing “Jai Ho.” It’s a great scene that ends the movie on a high and unexpected note. People embraced the song and movie, taking this movie that was made for only $15 million to worldwide sales of more than $370 million. Along the way, “Jai Ho” hit #15 on the Billboard Top 40, making A.R. Rahman a one-hit wonder. Jai Ho” won a Grammy Award for the Best Song Written for a Motion Picture. Then, in 2009, it won an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

As he gets a job in the USA, his parents Vasundhara (Suhasini) and Raj Gopal (Ashish Vidyarthi), who got married against their respective parents’ wishes, ask him to get married. He accepts and tells them that he will marry a girl of their choice in a ceremony that lasts five days. He also refuses to see his bride until the marriage. Everything is arranged according to his wishes, and his marriage is fixed with Deepthi (Bhanu Sri Mehra). At the ceremony, when Sandy and Deepthi see each other, they fall in love at first sight.
